Part 1 of our series, "Padel Court Construction," we explored the fundamental planning considerations, including selecting the ideal location, understanding space requirements, and navigating initial permits and regulations.
Building upon this foundation, Part 2 guided you through essential construction phases, highlighting critical aspects such as selecting appropriate materials, ensuring accurate dimensions, and installing optimal lighting and fencing systems. Now, as we conclude this comprehensive series, we've prepared a practical checklist designed to streamline your padel court project's final review, ensuring every detail meets the highest standards before your court is ready for play.
Project Definition & Planning:
⬜ Specify numbers of courts and Indoor vs Outdoor
⬜ Set budget & timeline
Permits & Approvals:
⬜ Confirm zoning & land-use permissions
⬜ Obtain building permits
⬜ Engage neighbors/community (if applicable)
Site Preparation Outdoor:
⬜ Conduct geotechnical soil analysis
⬜ Prepare and level the ground
⬜ Implement comprehensive drainage plan
⬜ Install utility conduits (electrical, water, drainage)
Foundations:
Indoor:
⬜ Concrete slab with a screed surface (~18–20 cm thick, levelled)
Outdoor:
⬜ Reinforced concrete slab or perimeter footing (min. 40 cm wide, frost-proof depth)
⬜ Plan surface slope (0.5–1%) or porous asphalt for proper water runoff
⬜ Embed anchor bolts accurately according to structural plan
Court Design & Materials:
⬜ Choose court design (Club vs. Panoramic)
⬜ Specify materials clearly (galvanized steel, tempered glass 10–12 mm, turf type)
⬜ Order court kit early (consider production lead times)
Court Structure Installation:
⬜ Assemble steel structure securely, ensure wind-load specifications met (Outdoor especially)
⬜ Install glass panels carefully (rubber gaskets, secure mounting)
⬜ Install mesh fencing, doors, and verify operation
Playing Surface & Equipment:
⬜ Install padel-specific turf professionally
⬜ Spread silica sand infill evenly (if applicable)
⬜ Mount net posts and net at correct height (0.88 m at center)
Lighting & Electrical:
Indoor:
⬜ Design even, glare-free lighting (min. 200–500 lux)
⬜ Ceiling-mount lights; ensure no interference with play
Outdoor:
⬜ Install pole-mounted LED floodlights (min 6m high)
⬜ Position lights to minimize glare and spill-over (local codes compliance)
Final Inspection & Acceptance:
⬜ Schedule professional and authority inspections
⬜ Verify final dimensions and equipment function (nets, gates, lights)
⬜ Obtain official certification/compliance documents
Operational Handover:
⬜ Receive maintenance manuals & warranties from supplier
⬜ Establish clear responsibilities for maintenance tasks
⬜ Organize spare parts (turf, glass, lights)
Ongoing Maintenance (After Completion):
⬜ Regularly brush and maintain turf (by Monofilament Artificial Turf only)
⬜ Clean and inspect glass walls frequently
Outdoor:
⬜ Regularly test and maintain lighting fixtures
Common Pitfalls – Final Check:
⬜ All required permits in place?
⬜ Foundation properly designed (depth, reinforcement)?
⬜ Correct materials chosen (tempered glass, galvanized steel)?
⬜ Effective drainage solutions implemented (Outdoor)?
This clear, practical checklist helps you distinguish key tasks for indoor vs. outdoor courts, ensuring no essential step is overlooked.
