The Professional Squash Association (PSA) has announced that a record total of $12,534,421 in total player compensation was on offer during the 2024-25 season which represents an 18.4% increase on the previous campaign.

The record high comes following the first season of the new PSA Squash Tour structure. The new structure – developed to create a more stable and longer-term calendar of top-tier tournaments in the build-up to squash’s debut at the LA28 Olympic Games – came into effect August 2024.

There was also a record number of sanctioned events during the 2024-25 campaign, with 1,019 tournaments held on the PSA Squash Tour.

Player compensation at women’s events totalled $5,916,910 (an increase of 22.3% on the previous season), with men’s player compensation coming to $6,617,511 (up 15.1%).

World No.1 Nouran Gohar was the top earning female player, winning $400,045 of prize money, marking the first time since the 2022-23 season that she has been the highest earning female. Mostafa Asal was the highest-earning male with $400,686, which is his first time at the top of the earnings ladder.

Average earnings for the men’s and women’s top 10 totalled $183,734 which is an increase of 13% compared to the previous season.

606 men’s events were held during the campaign, with 413 women’s events being sanctioned. 70 countries staged a PSA Squash Tour event, with Sri Lanka hosting a tournament for the first time.

81 World Events were held during the 2024-25 season (a 37.3% increase compared to events of a similar stature in 2023-24) as well as 215 Challenger Events and 720 Satellite Events and Federation Events.

“The 2024-25 campaign was one of the most competitive and exciting seasons in living memory and brought about record figures in terms of player compensation and sanctioned events,” said PSA Chief Executive Alex Gough.

“Our long-term strategy is focused on enhancing both the financial rewards and playing opportunities available to our athletes and we are currently on track to hit the player compensation targets outlined in our strategic vision. It is especially rewarding to see that both the male and female World No.1s earned almost identical prize money over the season, which is a truly unique milestone that reflects our continued commitment to equality across the sport.

“The future is incredibly bright for professional squash and the 2025-26 season promises to bring even more landmark moments for our sport.”
